
Digvesh Rathi and Nitish Rana have been fined heavily for their on-field altercation during the Eliminator match of the Delhi Premier League 2025 (DPL 2025). The fixture between West Delhi Lions and South Delhi Superstarz saw Rathi and Nitish at loggerheads and had to be separated by other players and umpires.
Rathi has been fined 80% of the Match Fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.2 (Level 2) for the conduct contrary to the spirit of the game. On the other hand, Rana has been fined 50% of the match fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.6 (Level 1) - using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during a match.
There was another heated moment witnessed during the game as South Delhi Superstarz’s fast bowler Aman Bharti gave a send off to West Delhi Lions’ batter Krish Yadav (31 off 22) after dismissing him in the 11th over of the match. Yadav retaliated, exchanging words with the seamer on his way back but was pushed away by the umpire.
Things got heated up as Sumit Bharti came charging towards Yadav, leading to another altercation. The umpire continued to push Yadav away, urging him to go back to the pavilion while Bharti was pushed back by Nitish Rana. In the aftermath of the incident, fines have been imposed on all three parties involved.
Krish Yadav has been fined 100% of the match fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.3 (Level 2), which pertains to the use of audible obscenity during a Match following an abuse from the opposing team player and pointing the bat towards the player.
Sumit Mathur has been fined 50% of the match fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.5 (Level 1) - using language, actions or gesture which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player.
On the other hand, Aman Bharti has been fined 30% of the match fees for a Code of Conduct breach under Article 2.3 (Level 1) for the use of audible obscenity during a Match.
