Pant and Bumrah Shine in Latest ICC Test Rankings; Root Still Holds Top Spot
The ICC Test rankings have been updated, reflecting significant changes after a week of compelling performances in both Test and T20I cricket. Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and England's Ben Duckett are among the biggest movers, achieving career-best rankings following their remarkable displays in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings after his memorable twin centuries at Headingley. He scored 134 and 118 in the match, becoming only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001, to achieve centuries in both innings. Pant is now the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to surpass 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter globally, with his English teammate Harry Brook maintaining the second position. India’s Shubman Gill has also climbed the rankings, moving up five places to 20th after his impressive century in the first innings.
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, retains his position as the world’s No. 1 Test bowler following another five-wicket haul at Headingley. England's Ben Stokes, contributing effectively with both bat and ball, has risen three places to claim the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings – his highest in recent months.
The T20I rankings have also seen considerable movement following the tri-series in Glasgow, involving the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Dutch batter Michael Levitt has jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also made an impression, climbing 20 spots to joint 38th.
As the ICC rankings continue to evolve, every run and wicket contributes to the dynamic landscape of international cricket.
