Topuria Claims Lightweight Crown, Confronts Pimblett at UFC 317
Ilia Topuria, the former featherweight champion and No. 2-ranked pound-for-pound fighter, achieved a historic feat at UFC 317 on Saturday, becoming only the tenth fighter to hold two UFC titles simultaneously. He defeated Charles Oliveira with a first-round knockout to seize the lightweight title.
The victory was followed by a heated confrontation with rival Paddy Pimblett, who entered the Octagon from the audience. A brief exchange of words escalated into a shove from Topuria, before security intervened. This sets the stage for a highly anticipated first lightweight title defense for Topuria.
In the co-main event, flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja successfully defended his title for the fifth time, submitting Kai Kara-France with a rear-naked choke in the third round.
Following the victory, Joshua Van, fresh off a unanimous decision win against Brandon Royval, entered the cage, signaling his intent to challenge Pantoja for the flyweight title. All indications suggest that Van will be the next challenger for Pantoja's championship.
