Pogba Lands in Monaco After Doping Suspension
Paul Pogba has officially signed with AS Monaco on a free transfer, the Ligue 1 team announced Saturday. The 32-year-old French midfielder aims to reignite his career after serving a doping ban.
According to ESPN sources, Pogba inked a two-year contract with Monaco, rejecting a high-paying offer from a Saudi Pro League club.
The World Cup-winning midfielder last played a competitive match in September 2023 for Juventus.
Pogba received a four-year doping ban in February 2024 after testing positive for DHEA, a substance known to elevate testosterone levels. Following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the suspension was reduced to 18 months.
Juventus, the Italian club, announced in November a mutual agreement to terminate Pogba's contract, originally set to end in June 2026.
While previously linked with potential moves to MLS and the Saudi Pro League, Pogba will make his comeback in his native France.
Although he progressed through Le Havre's academy, Pogba has never played professionally in France, having spent his club career between Manchester United and Juventus.
