Jackie Shroff, the veteran Bollywood actor, recently revealed his strong emotional ties to the chawl where he spent his formative years. Despite achieving stardom, Shroff has expressed a desire to rent a room in his old chawl in Mumbai, a request that has been denied by the landlord.

In an interview on Vickey Lalwani’s YouTube channel, Jackie Shroff shared nostalgic memories of his life in a humble chawl located in Mumbai’s Teen Batti area. He continued to live there for 33 years, even after his acting career took off. Now, he wishes to rent his old room. "He (the landlord) thinks that if he gives it to me then… I am like, ‘bro, I won’t run away with it’. This guy is not giving it to me. I told him that whatever money you are getting as rent for my old room… four people live there now, I told him that I will pay what those four people are paying. But he doesn’t want to,” Shroff explained.

Shroff's connection to the chawl remains profound. The room was vacated by his mother after the untimely death of his brother. He fondly remembers the atmosphere of the place and the memories he made there. "I love the vibe of that place. Even if he doesn’t give me that room, I sometimes go there, stand in the balcony in the evening, have some paan," he said.

During the same conversation, Jackie Shroff also spoke about the financial challenges he faced after producing the film 'Boom' in 2003.
