Before Hrithik Roshan's smashing debut with 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai,' his father, Rakesh Roshan, driven by his own struggles, insisted on a backup plan. Kader Khan suggested a Polytechnic college, envisioning Hrithik fixing ACs and fridges. Despite Rakesh's financial risks in launching him, Hrithik's success proved worthwhile, establishing him as a leading star after the film became a huge hit.
Hrithik Roshan made his debut in 2000 with ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ and the film was a huge hit. It turned him and Ameesha Patel into stars overnight. However, before his first film, his father Rakesh Roshan was worried because he had to struggle a lot when his acting career did not go well. While he turned into a great film-maker eventually, he did not have a very good acting career. Thus, he was scared and felt that Hrithik should perhaps have a back-up option, in case his acting career does not take off.
Hrithik had spoken about it during an old interview with Anupama Chopra for her show Masterclass. He said, “Yes. Scary time of my life. Okay, I wanted to be an actor. My father, thinking about all the struggle that he had been through, warned me against it. He said, "You must have something to fall back upon". And then came into my life, Mr Kader Khan. Lovely man. Made my life hell. Hell. He told my father, ‘If your son wants to go and do special effects, he must go to a Polytechnic college. One college, Bhagubhai Polytechnic is close by, your son must go there.’”

He added further, ““My dad came home and said, "You have to do this. Bhagubhai." I went, "Bhagubhai? What is Bhagubhai?" He said, ‘It’s a Polytechnic College.
You go to this college and when you come out, you will be able to fix an AC. You will be able to fix the fridge.’”
Hrithik has also revealed in many interviews that Rakesh Roshan had taken huge financial risks to launch him. It eventually, paid off well as the film was a huge hit. Hrithik is now one of the top stars in the country.
The actor was last seen in ‘WAR 2’ with Jr NTR and Kiara Advani.
